Based on the decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, construction of a thermometer plant began in Klin.
The plant was “included in the plan of operating ones.”
The Council of Ministers of the USSR made a decision to reconstruct the plant in order to increase the design capacity of the enterprise and ensure purification from mercury contamination.
The plant reached the planned reconstruction capacity ahead of schedule – 3,500 people were working. The glass-making, medical thermometer, industrial thermometer, and production parts workshops were fully loaded.
For the first time in the world, a glass-making workshop mastered the mechanized production of prismatic capillaries for medical thermometers.
The glass-making shop area was increased almost twofold. A new 12-ton furnace for 360 glass, a second furnace for milky sheet glass, nicknamed “Komsomolka”, and a two-chamber
furnace for enamel were built.
Development of souvenir thermometers, eliminating the backlog in the production of consumer goods.
An experimental electric furnace was launched. Electric melting of “400” and “500” grade glass for high-temperature thermometers was mastered. Furnace No. 6, which melted “360” grade glass, was also reconstructed. Work on electric melting of milk glass was started at the plant, and trial melting of “650” grade glass was conducted.
Mastering the production of quality lead crystal tableware. The plant took its place in the small list of Soviet enterprises producing crystal. At the same time, the production of household thermometers, souvenir thermometers, and plate lamps, which were fashionable at the time, was expanded.
The plant was awarded the Honorary Badge of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
The enterprise was included on the All-Union Board of Honor. More than 100 plant workers were awarded USSR orders and medals.
Minister K.N. Rudnev ordered the director of the enterprise to organize the production of glass beads for the Vilnius Plant of Calculating Machines. However, the workshops were not prepared for this. At the same time, the technology was being developed, equipment
and glass furnaces were being designed, and construction was underway.
The new section began to supply consumers with excellent glass beads. The production association “TERMOPRIBOR” was also created, which included the Klin Thermometer Plant, the Khimlaborpribor Plant and SKTB-SP. The number of employees began to reach 8,895 people.
In order to improve the management structure, improve the use of production capacities, and increase the volume of production of glass devices and apparatus, the Khimlaborpribor plant and SKTB-SP were removed from the Termopribor production association.
An order was signed on the development of frit for PO Tatneft. A unique installation for the production of special glass for the protective lining of steel oil pipelines was also created. The use of frit provided multimillion-dollar savings in the national economy.
PO Termopribor became part of the Ministry of General Machine Building, which managed space industry enterprises. In the Ministry of General Machine Building, TERMOPRIBOR was placed in the instrument main department, where it took a worthy place among enterprises specializing in the production of instruments for spacecraft.
Open joint-stock company “TERMOPRIBOR” was registered.
The company was renamed into Open Joint Stock Company “TERMOPRIBOR”.
A major reorganization of the enterprise: almost a third of the production areas were sold. The canteen of JSC TERMOPRIBOR was separated into an independent organization, OOO Trapeza, and the PULSE Culture House was transferred to the Trinity Cathedral.
The glass bead workshop was transformed into the limited liability company “TERMGLAS”.
The company JSC “TERMOPRIBOR” participates in the international exhibition “Analitika Expo” as an exhibitor.
“TERMOPRIBOR” is one of the largest manufacturers of thermometers for measuring and regulating temperature in Russia. The range of manufactured products includes more than 150 items and more than 1000 standard sizes. The number of personnel is 245 people.
